This is such a fascinating article. Comparing the photography of subjects from long ago to today is something we should probably do more often. This particular mystery tells a lot about our modern evolution in front of the camera. Quite the contrary from long ago, we are totally obsessed with our appearance. In addition, the popularity of the “forced” selfie smile suggests that we are a very different culture today.
