  1. The late Galen Rowell often discussed incorporating the Belt of Venus into his landscape photography. As an adventure and outdoor enthusiast whose outside and high altitude endeavors spanned dawn and dusk, he was sensitive to the optical phenomenon associated with those times of day including crepuscular beams, alpenglow, and heilegenschein. He cleverly exploited those effects into many of his images. It’s worthwhile for all landscape shooters to read his several books. I’m a far better photographer for having studied his techniques.
