  1. Don’t complain new 2.8 version. They already mentioned in video . Most of its user agree there is least to improve . Most of user extreem happy IS 2 version performance. Bcoz they didn’t hike price too much . I think new one 50gms lighter .

  2. For those with the old f4, the new f4 is going to be a big jump in performance.. Not so much the 2.8. Watch the video [in the article] for details..

  3. So the EF mount isn’t going away anytime soon?
    Assume either:
    1. New mirrorless full format has EF mount (or a spectacularly good/compact adaptor for EF mount)
    2. Canon have no intention of retiring their DSLRs in the next few years in favour of mirrorless only

  4. I am still quite happy with my MK I 70-200 2.8 IS. Was the MKII much better? If so maybe one of those can be had for reasonable money? . But my MKI has been a workhorse for over a decade. I believe I paid around $1,500 US for it. Probably my favorite lens I have ever used outside of my Contax Zeiss 25 mm and Zeiss 85 mm1.4 .

  5. This just proves again how conservative Canon is when it comes to innovation.

The 70-200 2.8L IS II is the sharpest 200mm I have ever used. I can’t imagine anything sharper than that! So there was no need for version III if they will only come up with new paint and new coating for cleaning.

The only good thing here is that it’s the same price as the version II sans the rebates.

Expect Canon’s FF mirrorless to be as conservative as this.
