How to Photograph an Elephant – National Geographic

Not everyone will have a chance to photograph an elephant, but if you do… Well, here are some tips for you.

How to Photograph an Elephant

Whether you are on safari in Africa, visiting a sanctuary, or on a trip to the zoo, the key to a great photograph lies in understanding elephant behavior so that you can photograph—and appreciate—what makes them truly magical. If you have the chance to see them in the wild, it is well worth taking the time to wait and see what unfolds. If you see a baby elephant, don’t leave. How to Photograph an Elephant

The Earth Is Defiled By Its People

Isaiah 24:4-6
The earth dries up and withers, the world languishes and withers, the exalted of the earth languish. The earth is defiled by its people; they have disobeyed the laws, violated the statutes and broken the everlasting covenant. Therefore a curse consumes the earth; its people must bear their guilt. Therefore earth’s inhabitants are burned up, and very few are left.

Photographs of Mermaids Trapped in Plastic Depict the Plight of Marine Animals – One Green Planet

Every day as activists, we struggle to make our causes appealing to the masses. Saving puppies from the side of the road is heartwarming and rescuing a baby rhino from the poachers who murdered his mother is inspiring. Fight Like A 2 Year Old

The first time I read this article, I felt hope leak out of me. Who wouldn’t. And the photos didn’t help since they made this little girl’s short life and its finality very real. But, by the grace of God, I was able to pivot my emotions so I could find light in such total darkness.

This baby didn’t battle cancer and die without leaving us a valuable message. Life is a fight. Different battles at different times. And here we have a 2-year-old girl showing us how to fight with grace and hope. I want to thank this lovely little lady for what she personally inspired in me today… To fight like a 2-year-old.

When You Are All Out Of Hope

We should never doubt God’s provision in our lives. As I sit here now, I question areas of my life that I feel particularly challenged with. I actually don’t even remember a time that I didn’t. And I would not be forthcoming if I didn’t confess my vulnerability and frequent sense of losing hope. But I am quickly reminded of my own quote. “When you are all out of hope, the only thing left is hope.” And from there… I march on! -gp

When Does An “Ad” Subtract? When It Divides Instead Of Multiplies Of Course…

I cannot remember a time when the culture of advertising was truly inclusive (or the media for that matter). You would think that advertisers selling a product or service would want to appeal to the largest possible audience of potential customers. “Not just the perfect ones.” If I am selling soap, why would I only want to sell it to people who looked or acted like me?

When advertisers choose certain “types” of people to represent their product and intentionally exclude others, they have somehow managed to convince those that are excluded, that they should be more like the ones that are included, and not themselves.

However, advertisers have taken control of this problem with some slight-of-hand psychological magic. When advertisers choose certain “types” of people to represent their product and intentionally exclude others, they have somehow managed to convince those that are excluded, that they should be more like the ones that are included, and not themselves. The “included” are superior and the excluded need to be like them tapping into our deepest, darkest insecurities. The media drives this identity crisis. Advertisers find benefit in homogenizing the globe into a one size, figure, color, type, culture, etc. fits all. This is not how we were created and abandons the richness of our diversity.

I don’t really believe that people should be called “disabled.” My preference is to acknowledge them as people who are able in ways that others are not.

People who have disabilities are among the excluded and have possibly suffered the most because they have to deal with both their affliction as well as trying to fit in. First, I don’t really believe that people should be called “disabled.” My preference is to acknowledge them as people who are able in ways that others are not. This is an important truth because the physical, mental, intellectual, and emotional coping mechanisms of people who may not function exactly like the masses are nothing short of extraordinary. Their resourcefulness to compensate and develop nearly supernatural abilities is evidence that they are God’s special children. To witness their daily perseverance is like watching the entire Star Wars Trilogy wrapped up in one human being. There is little on this earth that can motivate, inspire and give us hope like these individual miracles. I don’t understand why they aren’t dominating the content of all our media!

We should not underestimate the significance of growing up in a media-driven world that pretends you don’t exist. We should be able to grow up in a world where our environment not only accepts us, but promotes all of us as a community of one people without leaving anyone behind.

God and Creation Are Inseparable

You can separate Church and State but you will always lose if you try to separate God from His creation. God created man and everything else and while the world tries so hard to separate from God, God is still the Creator and the Star of the show. Don’t take my word for it. See what the most famous scientists in history believe at  25 Famous Scientists On God. Ok – What do scientists know.  So, consult the works of the founding fathers of this country and the principals this country was founded on (but has strayed from). Alright. Politicians have mixed agendas. I got that. Let’s look at the perfection built into the construction of the universe.  Coincidence? Have you ever watched a baby being born? A hearing-disabled person write a symphony? Someone heal from a disease beyond the comprehension of the foremost healthcare professionals? The sunset? The sunrise?

How about a perspective most of us will never experience – from space. John Glenn looked at this little blue dot from space and said “To look out at this kind of creation and not believe in God is to me impossible.”

Every Single Breath, Eyelash, Finger, Toe, Cry and Grin…

I love watching God take our disappointments in life and turn them into abundant blessings. This is a story or a women who cold not have more children and turned this pain into a spiritual journey that multiplied the meaning of the child she had and more. It is not only a story of quality over quantity, but one that inspires us to look even more closely at God’s amazing creation – the newborn baby.

What Baby?

It is easy to ignore the impact the moment a child is born has on anyone but the Mom and Baby (and Dad too :)). That is where all the action is, and of course, the physical trauma. However, usually there are other slightly more passive participants standing very nearby who are realizing a lifelong dream; maybe one that has been 30, 40, 50 years in the making. Quite possibly the only dream they own at this point in their lives. The dream of being a Grandparent.

God is just that awesome. Unknowingly, we share so much of our life’s events far beyond our own personal experience to people around us and sometimes beyond. Unfortunately however, by not being conscience of this phenomenon, we miss the glory of seeing others who have been touched as well. But what a tale of abundant joy that can be captured from the expressions of bystanders who are affected by God’s miracles even though they are not necessarily the direct subject. Keep your eyes open pGOD’ers! God is always at work! Everywhere! Every day!

Photographer’s moving birth images capture the beauty of the day – but in a slightly different way – Mirror Online

“Taking in the sight of a new addition to the family, the faces of Marry Fermont’s photo subjects say it all. In this instance however, the images aren’t of love-struck and emotional new parents cradling their babies. Instead, taking the focus off mum and baby , the Dutch photographer has captured the joy of that first visit from grandparents, friends and relatives.” read more at mirror.co.uk

Thank You God For The Miracle Of Life!

There isn’t a single phase of this process that just doesn’t drop your jaw to the floor. I can remember all four of my miracles and while all were very different journeys, all equally amazing. From the moment you learn you will be a mother or father; To the preparation for the new arrival; Then comes the day God sends this little spirit down to earth and into your arms… And finally, the blessing of family. “This is the miracle of life!”
